At age seventeen she was nominated for Miss Utah, but following her father’s death, she moved to California and was unable to participate in the pageant. There in California, Donna met a woman that became a friend and mentor: Sharlene Wells Hawkes, a previous Miss Utah who eventually was crowned Miss America in 1985. Donna babysat her children. Up until now that was the sum total of her pageant experience. |

She started her massage career in 1994, graduating from Sterling school of Massage. Included in her almost 29 years of massage experience was an interesting 20-year opportunity in sports recovery, assisting professional athletes, including many members of the Dallas Cowboys football team as well as pro players from thirteen other Professional teams through the years. Donna also worked for three years in physical therapy at three hospitals, through Intermountain Healthcare. Lately she has served the communities of Park City Utah and Syracuse Utah with her vast knowledge of the body continuing her independent massage practice that has always been her sole income. Donna has a deep sense of accountability and a strong work ethic because as a child she shouldered her portion of obligations. |

Donna has dealt with her share of challenges. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer when she was pregnant with her son in 2011, but instead of aborting her son, she chose to fight for him. Her house burned down in 2012 during her separation from her husband, yet she stayed optimistic and productive despite her own suffering. During the fire relocation, her ex-husband took her to court and their daughter was temporarily placed with him. It was not easy to relocate her business and household while paying child support to her ex-husband. Her financial situation was so dire that for several months she and her infant son had to drink brown powdered milk that was thirty years old, and food storage items that were decades past the expiration dates printed on the labels. During that period of humility and struggle, hiding her anguish she promised to help a friend move. Because of her hidden circumstances she had no current transportation, but simply walked the distance a good part of the day, carrying her son, to honor her word and assist her friend without complaint. She cultivated traits of optimism and resourcefulness despite an uphill rocky road. |
 |
Donna can be somewhat shy and reserved but is devoted, moral, and sticks to her principles. She finds comfort and satisfaction in her work as a sports recovery massage therapist but can soak up the tensions and bad feelings of the people near her, so she makes time for water relaxation, meditation, introspection and reading as a necessary respite. |
